Transformer
"Transformer", or "transformer" for short, refers to the electrotechnical components that convert normal mains voltage (230 volts in Europe, 110 volts in the USA) into the voltage required to operate electrical equipment. Transformers that are connected upstream of electrical equipment also have a safety function; they reduce the normal mains voltage to a low voltage that is not dangerous to humans. This allows other protection classes to be implemented, which in turn enables more diverse and user-friendly equipment designs. Electronic low-voltage transformers are used in Provita luminaires.
